Sepultaria arenicola (Lev.) Massee Sand-Erdbecherling. Fruit body 1–3cm across, subterranean and subglobose only appearing on the surface when mature, resembling small insect burrows as the upper part splits open, disc cream-coloured. Asci 230 x 18µ. Spores containing two oil drops, 23–28 x 14–16µ. Habitat in sandy soil or silt. Season autumn to late spring. Rare. Not edible. Distribution, America and Europe.
